i3 Digital was recently named in the Top 10 Kentico websites for the month of December. This award is in recognition of our team’s work on the American Psychiatric Association Publishing’s brand new integrated eCommerce website.
APA Publishing is a division of the American Psychiatric Association. Its purpose is twofold: to serve as the distributor of publications of the Association and to publish books independent of the policies and procedures of the American Psychiatric Association. APA Publishing has grown since its founding in 1981 into a full-service publishing house, including a staff of editorial, production, marketing, and business experts devoted to publishing for the field of psychiatry and mental health.
The American Psychiatric Association (APA)’s tagline is “Medical leadership for mind, brain and body.” The Association represents 38,500 psychiatrists worldwide, providing educational services, research, government relations, publications and membership services. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is an organization of psychiatrists working together to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental illness, including substance use disorders. As the leading psychiatric organization in the world, APA now encompasses over 38,500 members practising in more than 100 countries.
The over-arching objective of the new appi.org site was the provision of the ability to allow users of different membership levels to purchase books and journal subscriptions at prices based on their membership type. Another big driver for the project was to move to a Content Management System which could provide the flexibility that suited APAP’s business needs. The project requirements included several complex challenges, which made Kentico and Microsoft MVC the ideal technology platforms.
Utilizing Kentico’s version 12 MVC platform, the new site has a modern, fresh design and seamless user experience. The project also included closely integrating with their CRM SalesForce and Naviga Global’s Publishing Platform, a new Enterprise Resource Planning software for its Publishing operations. This has helped the American Psychiatric Association Publishing to better serve and supply its global membership with its vast catalogue of published books.
