The Client
The District of Columbia Bar (D.C. Bar) based in Washington D.C. was created in 1972 by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. The D.C. Bar provides the oversight and structures needed to maintain the legal profession's ethical standards and rules of professional conduct within the District. The organization is the largest mandatory bar association in the United States, with more than 108,000 members across all 50 states and in more than 80 countries.

Project Scope
In November 2019, following a highly competitive international bid process, i3 Digital was selected to redesign and rebuild the organization's public website (www.dcbar.org). The prestigious contract award included the design and development of a modern, streamlined and highly user-centric web platform in close collaboration with the D.C. Bar team and key stakeholders. The project involved initially identifying the best .NET based Content Management System to meet D.C. Bar's requirements while also facilitating the seamless integration with NetFORUM, the Bar's association management software.

What we Delivered
Kentico Xperience MVC was selected as the right CMS solution for the project, providing the functionality and overarching framework to assist the Bar in achieving the launch of a new easy to use, highly flexible, future-proofed website with integration capabilities.
Utilizing our vast experience with Kentico, i3 Digital's team designed and built a modern, responsive, attractive, user-centric website, delivered on a tightly integrated and highly secure platform. Customized widgets also provided the flexibility to create a site that could easily use the features of Kentico's inbuilt marketing suite (EMS). Marketing Automation was a key function required by the D.C. Bar to provide the ability to track user activity and personalize content.

The Build
Our UX/Design team was able to work with the D.C. Bar team to create a highly intuitive, hierarchical information architecture which is reflected in the site’s navigational structure. The D.C. Bar team can now easily create and manage information that is relevant to specific groups, demographics and organizational functions such as Attorney Discipline and the Pro Bono Center.
A new customized faceted predictive search function was deployed based on core Kentico functionality. Our team added advanced search filters and functionality which allows users to refine search by category and relevance. The search filters have been integrated into all pages and can be managed by the site administrator.
The D.C. Bar's global members now have a seamless single-sign-on experience when accessing their membership information. Registered Members are presented with personalized content based on membership status and interests, which has been facilitated by the integration of Kentico Xperience and NetFORUM.

The Result
The new site has a modern, fresh design and provides a streamlined user experience which helps D.C. Bar's global members access relevant information. D.C. Bar’s team now have an intuitive, easy to use, highly secure digital platform that now facilitates real-time personalized engagement with their global membership.
In the resulting performance when compared to the same period (July 1 to Oct 28) 2019 vs 2020, D.C. Bar’s new website has seen a massive 63% increase in unique pageviews and a 91% increase in on-page average dwell times across the board.
