This project had an unmissable 6-month delivery deadline, which was imperative to meet. The Smiths Interconnect’s team managing the project is based across (2) continents, in different locations and time zones.
The new website involved consolidating seven legacy websites into one Kentico EMS instance migrating content from Ektron, Drupal, Sitecore and earlier versions of Kentico CMS.
What we delivered
The i3 Digital consultancy team delivered a comprehensive 3-day onsite stakeholder UX/UI/Technical discovery workshop at Smiths Interconnects’ London offices. Areas covered included the website’s IA, product and content prioritisation, detailed customer definition (personas), key customer journey planning, client engagement, and key conversion points.
Key outputs and deliverables of the discovery phase were a range of wireframes defining all key user journeys, high-level entry screen layouts, product presentation and detail screens. In tandem with the design process, our technical analyst iteratively produced a detailed requirements specification which correlated with all agreed user interfaces and associated functionality.
The build phase consisted of custom development, including Salesforce CRM integration. The project also required providing a substantial product catalogue that met all of Smiths Interconnect business needs.
Smiths Interconnect’s new e-commerce platform has been architected so that it serves as a scalable, central information and product repository for their global businesses. The new site now serves as the central hub for the businesses critical product lines and brands. The new structure presents Smiths Interconnect as the umbrella brand in association with its ten primary product brands. It is modern, responsive, attractive, user-friendly and delivered on a highly secure platform.
We are very pleased with the end result of smithsinterconnect.com which helped complete our rebranding effort of bringing together 7 websites. i3 Digital understood our needs, helped us develop a plan based on user experience and were always quick to respond. In the end, they developed a website with a lot of flexibility to grow with our organization.
