Launching an Integrated SAP eCommerce Platform for TSI Inc.
Minneapolis Headquartered TSI Inc. are a global leader in the design and production of precision measurement instruments. With offices throughout Europe and Asia, their products and instruments can be found globally in hospitals, research labs, pharmaceutical companies, construction sites, industrial companies, on architectural plan, throughout manufacturing plants and out in the field. They partner with research institutions and businesses to set the standard for measurements relating to aerosol science, air flow, chemical analysis, indoor air quality, fluid dynamics, biohazard detection, scrap metal sorting and plastics identification.
TSI’s overarching project goal was to transform their business globally by the delivery of a multilingual, tightly integrated, e-Commerce platform that met the digital marketing and e-business needs of TSI’s seven (7) core business/product divisions internationally. The new platform needed to also focus on achieving operational efficiencies, whilst meeting the communication with and management of a worldwide partner distributor network.
It was paramount that the solution was architected to facilitate a major level of control and management autonomy for each business division. As part of the new build, seamless bi-directional integration with TSI’s existing SAP system was required. This was the first time ever that our team had integrated Kentico’s e-Commerce and cataloguing capabilities with SAP’s ERP and CRM offering.
What we delivered
As the project has been optioned to be delivered via a waterfall methodology approach, extensive time was invested in creating and narrating a detailed requirement specification. This detailed all CMS functionality, all customizations, all integrations and how they would be carried out with third-party systems. Design concepts were also incorporated and associated with the specification visualizing how key technical functionality and dashboards would be presented to the end user.
The site has been built to be multi-lingual and to profile TSI’s Events, News, Products, Product Blogs, Knowledge Centre and Provides Customers and Distribution Partners with a dedicated Online Service Centre and also incorporates an Online University (Learn with TSI).
A major bi-directional SAP, CRM & ERP Integration was implemented, providing real-time data on pricing, availability, stock levels, Business Intelligence Dashboard, ordering, request a quote lead generation, order history, quotations.
Kentico’s e-commerce capability has been set-up to provide the ability (on customer login) to set what products the customer sees and any associated products that are relevant. It also allows for individual customer assignment of discount levels with the ability to pay on account (triggering an invoicing workflow). This function is integrated directly into SAP ERP.
A full channel distribution partner portal is now available which avails of all core e-commerce functionality with the one product catalogue meeting the needs of B2B customers and Distribution Partners. A view previous order and place again function has also been deployed which will allow existing customers to resurrect a typical order and reorder with a few simple clicks.
Advanced integrated digital marketing capabilities have also been delivered which are coupled with the new e-commerce engine. Going forward TSI Inc. will be able to utilise segmented Email Marketing, Lead Scoring, Content Personalisation, A/B and MV Testing, Contact Management and Automated Marketing to attract, engage, nurture, educate, promote to and retain existing and new customers.
