Launching a new Integrated eCommerce Platform for World’s Leading Psychiatric Publisher

The American Psychiatric Association Publishing (APAP) is the world’s leading publisher of books, journals and media in the fields of Psychiatry, Mental Health and Behavioral Science. As the Publishing division of the American Psychiatric Association, they serve the needs of over 38,500 Psychiatric members in more than 100 countries. The APAP, headquartered in Washington D.C., has expanded since its inception in the early 1980s to be a full-service publishing house, including a staff of editorial, production, marketing, and business experts devoted to publishing for the field of psychiatry and mental health.

In 2018 the APAP chose SalesForce as their preferred CRM platform along with Naviga Global’s publishing platform, a new enterprise-class resource planning software for its publishing operations which is used by recognizable publications such as Time, Popular Science, GQ, Rolling Stone, Wired, Elle and many more. The APAP team also decided that they needed a technology partner who had extensive experience of seamlessly integrating platforms via Restful APIs. The Partner also had to be a certified Kentico Agency as the American Psychiatric Association (APA) was using the technology in other parts of their organization and had decided on using  Kentico’s inbuilt eCommerce engine to assist in the delivery of a new APAP eCommerce platform at

In essence, the APAP would be utilizing Kentico to integrate and pull all of their new systems together to deliver a highly customized eCommerce platform which would encompass SalesForce CRM, Naviga Global’s Publishing Platform, Kentico 12 MVC eCommerce and online merchant payment services via Braintree. The APAP also required a seamless customer-centric user experience for their members with Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities. The challenge of connecting all of the systems would reside with APAP’s chosen technology partner. This partner ended up being our i3 Digital team, selected after a stringent tender process.
